Liolios Group partnered with Rubio’s Restaurants, Inc. (NASDAQ: RUBO) and developed a comprehensive investor relations strategy targeted toward the small-cap investor community. Rubio’s is positioned in the growth-leading Fast Casual segment of the restaurant industry and is credited with introducing fish tacos to the U.S. The company has over 200 locations with a large Mexican food menu to accommodate all tastes.
Highlights of the comprehensive campaign included weekly calls with buy and sell-side institutions, quarterly conference and road show participation, as well as corporate positioning, messaging and crisis communications.
The culmination of the partnership was the buyout offer they received from Mill Road Capital in May of 2009 for $8.70 per share. During the course of the engagement, investors enjoyed a 42% appreciation in stock price and institutional ownership increased over 100%
